Ananta is being developed by Naked Rain, a studio based in Hangzhou operating under Thunder Fire Studio. The project originally began as Project Mugen and was first revealed at Gamescom in August 2023, before being officially rebranded as Ananta in late 2024. The developers are crafting the game as a free-to-play open-world action RPG featuring cel-shaded, anime-inspired visuals and a dynamic urban setting designed to feel alive and unpredictable, drawing inspiration from anime, cinematic action, and modern open-world design philosophies.

Set in the sprawling metropolis of Nova City, Ananta takes place in a modern world where humans coexist with mysterious supernatural anomalies. Players step into the role of an Investigator, exploring the city, battling strange creatures, and uncovering the hidden truths behind the anomalies threatening everyday life. The gameplay blends stylish, fast-paced combat with fluid traversal, allowing players to move seamlessly across the city using parkour-inspired movement and grappling mechanics.

The story follows a core group of protagonists from the Anti-Chaos Directorate (ACD), an organization responsible for handling supernatural threats across Nova City. The main lead is the Captain, the ACD’s commander and primary player character, who guides the team through major investigations and chaos-driven conflicts. Taffy brings speed and energy as a fast-moving delivery specialist, Richie serves as the team’s close-combat powerhouse, and Seymour provides strategic support as a masked tech expert. Together, they form the heart of Ananta’s narrative and gameplay experience.

Rather than relying on traditional gacha mechanics for character acquisition, Ananta focuses on unlocking characters through story progression and exploration, with monetization centered on cosmetic and customization options to ensure a fair and accessible experience for all players.
